Très beau vase de Pol Chambost (1906-1983), en faïence émaillée blanche à décor craquelé, avec un intérieur émaillé noir profond qui crée un contraste particulièrement élégant.
Le décor en léger relief, rythmé sur les côtés, souligne la silhouette architecturée de la pièce, avec son col de section carrée et sa base annelée. L’ensemble présente une très belle présence décorative, caractéristique des recherches de Pol Chambost dans les années 1940.
Le vase porte sous la base un cachet circulaire “Made in France”, marque que l’on rencontre sur des productions de l’artiste au cours des années 1940. Pol Chambost, formé aux arts appliqués à Paris, s’impose comme l’un des grands noms de la céramique française du XXe siècle, développant un langage très personnel, à la croisée du design, de la sculpture et des arts décoratifs. Pol Chambost naît en 1906 à Saint-Étienne et meurt en 1983. Formé à l’École des Arts Appliqués à Paris, il débute dans un univers proche de la sculpture avant de se consacrer à la céramique. Dès les années 1930, puis surtout dans l’après-guerre, il développe une œuvre immédiatement reconnaissable par l’invention de ses formes, leur élégance structurée et la qualité de ses glaçures. À la fois designer et céramiste, il occupe aujourd’hui une place majeure dans l’histoire de la céramique française du XXe siècle.

Beautiful vase by Pol Chambost (1906-1983) in white crackle-glazed faience, with a deep black glazed interior creating a striking and elegant contrast.

Very good overall condition.
The vase is very well preserved, with a beautiful glaze quality and an excellent overall presentation. The crackle pattern is inherent to the technique and fully contributes to the charm of the piece. Only minor age-related and usage marks can be seen underneath the base, fully consistent with the age of the object and with no effect on its appearance or structural integrity.
