Très beau pichet en grès émaillé réalisé par René Le Denmat (1942-2026), céramiste français installé à Sanary-sur-Mer, puis actif au Brésil.
La pièce présente une forme particulièrement originale, à la fois fonctionnelle et sculpturale : corps facetté et légèrement déformé, base quadrangulaire. Le travail de forme donne à ce pichet une présence forte, très contemporaine, tout en conservant l’esprit d’une céramique d’usage de grande qualité.
L’émail est remarquable, avec une belle opposition entre le corps brun-noir profond et le col animé d’un émail rosé, violacé. Une pièce expressive, typique d’un travail de recherche autour du grès, de la haute température et des émaux.

René Le Denmat est un céramiste français dont le parcours s’est construit autour du grès et de la porcelaine de haute température. Actif dès les années 1970, il développe un travail très personnel sur les formes tournées, incisées, déformées ou architecturées, avec une attention particulière portée aux émaux. Il est notamment associé au mouvement des potiers du sud de la France et à l’association Le Printemps des Potiers, avant de poursuivre une partie de son parcours au Brésil, où il participe à plusieurs rencontres et démonstrations autour de la céramique. Son œuvre témoigne d’une vraie maîtrise technique, en particulier dans la recherche des céladons, rouges de cuivre et émaux de haute température. (RM Cerâmica Artística)

Beautiful glazed stoneware pitcher by René Le Denmat (1942-2026), a French ceramic artist based in Sanary-sur-Mer before continuing part of his career in Brazil.
This piece stands out for its original and sculptural shape: a faceted body, slightly altered form, square-section base, generous handle, and well-defined pouring spout. It combines the spirit of a functional vessel with the presence of a contemporary ceramic artwork.
The glaze work is particularly striking, with a deep brown-black body showing rust and metallic undertones, contrasted by a lively pink, violet, and bluish glazed neck with speckled and crystallized effects. A strong and expressive piece, showing a remarkable sense of form, originality, and glaze quality.

About the artist
René Le Denmat was a French ceramic artist known for his work in high-fired stoneware and porcelain. Active from the 1970s onward, he developed a personal approach to thrown forms, often altered, incised, or structurally reworked, with a strong focus on glaze research. He was connected with the southern French pottery scene and the Le Printemps des Potiers association, before later developing part of his activity in Brazil, where he took part in ceramic meetings and demonstrations.
