Grande coupe en grès émaillé réalisée par René Le Denmat, céramiste né en 1942.
La pièce présente une belle forme ouverte montée sur petit talon, avec un décor d’émaux de grand feu aux nuances brunes, ocres, noires et beige clair. La surface alterne zones mouchetées, coulures, effets de superposition et plages plus sombres, donnant à l’ensemble une présence à la fois sobre, minérale et très expressive.
René Le Denmat travaille le grès et la porcelaine, avec des pièces tournées ou montées à la plaque. Ses recherches portent notamment sur les émaux de grand feu, parfois superposés, cuits à haute température en atmosphère réductrice. Cette coupe illustre bien ce travail de matière et d’émail, avec un décor appliqué par gestes répétés à main levée.

Biographie
René Le Denmat est né en 1942. Autodidacte, il commence son apprentissage en 1970 auprès d’un potier du Pays basque, avant de travailler dans différents ateliers. Il exerce comme artiste libre à partir de 1989.
Son œuvre s’inscrit dans une production à la fois utilitaire et décorative, principalement en grès et en porcelaine, avec un intérêt particulier pour les émaux de grand feu, les superpositions de matières et les effets obtenus par la cuisson à haute température.

Large glazed stoneware bowl by René Le Denmat, French ceramic artist born in 1942.
The piece has a strong open form raised on a small foot, with high-fired glazes in brown, ochre, black and light beige tones. The surface combines speckled textures, glaze movements, layered effects and darker areas, giving the bowl a sober, mineral and highly expressive presence.
René Le Denmat works with stoneware and porcelain, producing both thrown and slab-built pieces. His practice focuses particularly on high-fired glazes, sometimes layered, fired at high temperature in a reducing atmosphere. This bowl is a fine example of his work on surface, glaze and repeated hand-applied decorative gestures.
A strong decorative piece, suitable for a collection of contemporary ceramics, French stoneware or studio pottery.

René Le Denmat was born in 1942. Self-taught, he began his training in 1970 with a potter in the Basque Country, before working in various workshops. He has been active as an independent artist since 1989.
His work includes both functional and decorative pieces in stoneware and porcelain, with a particular interest in high-fired glazes, layered surfaces and effects obtained through high-temperature firing.
