Cette pièce, d’une hauteur d’environ 25,5 cm, présente une forme sphérique équilibrée et un décor japonisant stylisé, réalisé à l’oxyde sombre sur un émail brun chaud légèrement nuancé.

David Miller (1942-2008) fut un céramiste britannique dont l’œuvre associe modernité et influence orientale. Il étudia d’abord la sculpture à l’École des Beaux-Arts de Londres, puis poursuivit des études en graphisme à Brighton, avant de s’installer dans le sud de la France dans les années 1970.
Installé à Bandol, il participa activement au Printemps des Potiers, rendez-vous incontournable de la céramique contemporaine européenne.
Ses pièces se distinguent par la pureté des formes, la richesse des émaux et une recherche constante d’équilibre inspirée du wabi-sabi japonais.

Excellent overall condition, no crack or chip. The glaze retains a soft satin sheen characteristic of high-fired stoneware.

David Miller (1942–2008) was a British ceramic artist whose work blends modernist principles with Eastern influence. He first studied sculpture at the London School of Fine Arts, then graphic design in Brighton, before settling in southern France in the 1970s.
Based in Bandol, he was a prominent participant in the Printemps des Potiers, an annual gathering of leading European ceramic artists. His creations are known for their purity of form, refined glazes, and a poetic restraint inspired by the Japanese concept of wabi-sabi.
