Biographie de l’artiste 
Gisèle Buthod-Garçon (née en 1954 à Salon-de-Provence) vit et travaille à Saint-Quentin-la-Poterie. Marquée dès l’enfance par son lien profond à la terre, elle développe une approche très personnelle du raku, mêlant enfumage, émaux gras et recherche de texture.
Après une période en production utilitaire, elle se consacre entièrement à la création artistique dès 1982, construisant son propre four et adoptant le raku américain inspiré de Paul Soldner.
Ses nombreux voyages en Afrique et en Asie nourrissent son travail de nouvelles influences formelles et spirituelles. Son œuvre est aujourd’hui reconnue pour la force de ses volumes, la densité de ses surfaces et la poésie de ses matières.

The generous rounded form is enhanced by a beautiful surface of deep turquoise, green, copper and smoky effects. The vase is signed under the base with the artist’s star-shaped stamp.

Artist Biography
Gisèle Buthod-Garçon (born 1954 in Salon-de-Provence) lives and works in Saint-Quentin-la-Poterie, France. Closely connected to the land since childhood, she developed a highly personal approach to raku, combining smoke-firing, rich glazes and a strong focus on texture.
After a period in utilitarian ceramic production, she dedicated herself fully to artistic creation in 1982, building her own kiln and adopting American-style raku inspired by Paul Soldner.
Her numerous travels across Africa and Asia have greatly influenced her work, enriching it with new forms and spiritual depth. She is known for expressive volumes, textured surfaces and poetic materiality.
