👩‍🎨 Biographie d’Anita de Caro (1909–1998)
Née à New York en 1909, Anita de Caro appartient à la génération de l’abstraction lyrique d’après-guerre. Formée à la Art Students League, puis à Zurich, elle s’installe à Paris en 1937 où elle rejoint l’atelier de Stanley William Hayter. Influencée par Paul Klee, elle développe un langage pictural singulier, alliant musique, rythme et signes graphiques. Soutenue par Jeanne Bucher, elle expose dans les plus grandes galeries européennes : Denise René, Maeght, Hanover Gallery…
Aujourd’hui, son travail bénéficie d’une redécouverte progressive, saluée pour son raffinement, sa rigueur formelle et son caractère profondément indépendant.

👩‍🎨 Biography – Anita de Caro (1909–1998)
Born in New York in 1909, Anita de Caro was part of the postwar lyrical abstraction movement. Trained at the Art Students League and later in Zurich, she settled in Paris in 1937 and joined Hayter's Atelier 17. Influenced by Paul Klee, she developed a unique visual language blending music, rhythm, and graphic elements. She was supported by Jeanne Bucher and exhibited in major European galleries including Denise René, Maeght, and the Hanover Gallery.
Her work is now being progressively rediscovered, celebrated for its refinement, formal rigor, and deeply independent spirit.
